CIRCULAR TRACK PLANT INVESTIGATION AND REMEDIAL WORK, ASMANG MINE
Employed by R&H Rail, a study was conducted of the tracked plant with circular rail at their Beeshoek and Khumani iron ore mines, with recommendations on remedial works. Due to the “bow wave effect”, the rail in front of the moving plant loads causes the rail to creeps forwards breaking rail fixtures and earth cables

Bashed by illegal, over-sized, road haul, it was found that one of the six pre-stressed M-beams of the bridge near Oggies in the Witbank district, was damaged beyond repair. It had to be replaced with new, with parts of the deck & parapet wall
Additional Repairs to Xstrata Goedgevonden Rail over Road Bridge, 2010 to 2011
Damaged again (after previous repairs) 5 openings in the deck slab were made to effect beam-flange repairs, working between webs. This time the owner extended the project to include for the lowering of the R545 road by 1.040m, and the design and erection of three Early Warning Height Restriction Structures – with success !

With R&H Rail, this project for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality required the design of a new drainage system around the buildings – to the municipal system, repair works of buildings and roofs, and structural repairs of the quarter-Olympic size indoor swimming pool. By testing the water streaming into drill-holes, it was found that the water mains were leaking requiring leaks to be repaired. The chlorinating plant & pumps had to be replaced, and the filter plant refurbished.
